How
Does the Platelet Advantage Work?
Now when you
save lives with your platelet donations you'll also earn points
redeemable for a wide variety of gifts. You'll earn 100 Platelet
Advantage points each time you donate platelets. You
can also earn additional points each time you donate:
- 50
additional points for a double platelet donation *
- 100
additional points a triple platelet donation *
- 75
additional points for a double platelet/red cell donation *
- 50
additional points for a platelet/plasma donation
- 25
additional points for a platelet/red cell donation
* NOTE: Additional points will be posted 5
days after your donation.
Points for multiple platelet products will be based on final test
results in our laboratory, not on the attempted procedure at the time of
donation.

critical periods
- June
28-July 9, 2008
- August
28-September 8, 2008
- November
26-December 1, 2008
- December
19, 2008-January 11, 2009
- Additional
dates may be added when necessary to meet patient
needs.

- 100 bonus points for platelet donations made on any Sunday.

You will retain all your earned points if you make at least one blood or platelet donation every 180 days.
If you do not meet this requirement you will forfeit 50 Platelet Advantage points. This requirement will be waived while any donor is temporarily or permanently
deferred from donating.

A
minimum of 400 points is required for gift
redemption. Gifts are tiered based on your accumulated point total. You'll
see a wide array of gifts at each tier. You may redeem all or some of your
points as you wish. You can even donate your points back to New York Blood
Center. Platelet Advantage points are not transferable and are not
redeemable for cash.
